RCNP Network System Renewal 2019

We are going to renew the network switches and application servers of RCNP in the period from late June to early August. During this period, the network connections as well as most network services (such as mail, www, VPN, and network management system) of RCNP will stop intermittently. Please take a look at and check carefully the renewal schedule below, which will be frequently updated.

The application servers that are renewed are:

Mail (SMTP/IMAP4) servers
WWW servers (internal/external)
VPN server
Network Management System
DNS servers (internal/external)
DHCP server
Radius servers
Other system management/monitoring servers

Major Differences between the Current and New Systems

WWW and Database(DB) services

The versions of software packages installed in the WWW and DB servers are updated. Below we list several critical packages that could cause problems in user's web and DB contents. Please check whether or not softwares/apps used for your web pages are compatible with the updated packages listed in the following tables, and update your softwares/apps appropriately if you find them incompatible.

Confirmed incompatible softwares (there may exist other softwares that we couldn't confirm, too!)

PukiWiki 1.4.7

PukiWiki 1.4.7 is not compatible with PHP5.4, and one has to upgrade it to PukiWiki 1.5.x so that you can keep using your PukiWiki even in the new RCNP www server.
The instruction for upgrading PukiWiki 1.4.7 to PukiWiki 1.5.0 can be found at https://pukiwiki.osdn.jp/?PukiWiki/Install/Update/1.5.0 in the PukiWiki official page (written in Japanese).
Brief instruction:

COPY AND TAKE BACKUP of your PukiWiki ("pukiwiki/" is your PukiWiki directory):

cp -pdR pukiwiki/ pukiwiki-backup/

Check if your PukiWiki supports UTF-8 or EUC_JP.
Go to https://ja.osdn.net/projects/pukiwiki/releases/61634 and download the corresponding patch file. Download "update_pukiwiki_147to150_utf8.patch" if your PukiWiki supports UTF-8, or download "update_pukiwiki_147to150_eucjp.patch" if your PukiWiki supports EUC_JP.
Type the following commands (XXX = utf8 or eucjp):

cd pukiwiki/
patch -p1 < /(Path to the directory where patch downloaded)/update_pukiwiki_147to150_XXX.patch

VPN service

The new RCNP VPN service allows you VPN access not only from Windows, Mac, and Linux Operating Systems as before, but also from iOS and Android devices. The detailed instructions for the usage of the new VPN service can be found here.

Network Management System

The operation of SYSTEM B is discontinued. Only SYSTEM A (https://www.rcnp.osaka-u.ac.jp/netmanage1/) is available for the service.

DNS Servers

The internal DNS servers

dns2-in(172.16.5.171) and dns1-sp8(172.16.192.14) are discontinued, and only dns1-in(172.16.5.170) is available for the service.

The external DNS servers

dns2-ex(133.1.86.133) is discontinued, and only dns1-ex(133.1.86.132) is available for the service.
