This is the home page for the experiments at the Ring Cyclotron facility at RCNP. The experiments have been performed as collaborations with users from inside and outside of Japan, and we support and perform these experiments. The experimental programs cover very wide areas of nuclear physics. You can access the information on these researches from here.

http://www.rcnp.osaka-u.ac.jp/Divisions/np1-a/images/gr.gifGrand Raiden and Large Acceptance Spectrometer

Two-arm spectrometers, Grand Raiden and Large Acceptance Spectrometer, are characterized by high resolution (D/M=37,000) and large acceptance (20 msr), respectively. The Grand Raiden can analyze up to 1.4 GeV protons (450 MeV tritons).

A recently completed high resolution beam line designed to accomplish complete matching including both lateral and angular dispersion and focus matching with the Grand Raiden spectrometer.

The Focal Plane Polarimeter (FPP) for Grand Raiden can analyze the polarization of protons with an efficiency of about 3% and an effective analyzing power of about 40%. It can measure the longitudinal component of the polarization vector with DSR magnet.

The Neutron Time Of Flight (NTOF) facility consists of a beam swinger system, a neutron spin rotation magnet, and the most high efficient neutron detector/polarimeter NPOL2 at intermediate energies. It is used for the study of spin isospin excitations in nuclei.

(Unstable Nuclei)

Snowball is a microcluster which aligns ion products through electrostriction in superfluid helium. It can be used for the beta ray spectroscopy of unstable nuclei.

(Medical Science)

Radiation therapy is one of the excellent methods to treat cancer patients. A heavy charged particles irradiation system has been used for the study of biological effects.

(Strangeness Nuclear Physics)

A recently completed WSS beam line and experimental apparatus designed to study the nucleon-nucleon (baryon-baryon) weak interaction. The use of polarized protons will enable the clear measurement of the parity violation.

http://www.rcnp.osaka-u.ac.jp/Divisions/np1-a/images/es.gifES Course
(Ultra Cold Neutrons)

A new ES beam line and experimental apparatus for the study of the Ultra Cold Neutron (UCN) production in a spallation neutron source. A 400 MeV proton beam from the Ring Cyclotron is used for the spallation neutron production.
