Welcome to the Exhibition Room of the Research Center for Nuclear Physics,
Osaka University
Welcome to the Exhibition Room of the
Research
Center for
Nuclear Physics, Osaka
University.
We have
just opened the ”Exhibition Room” on the 1st floor of the Office
Building of RCNP ( Research Center for Nuclear Physics) next to the Experimental
Hall, as one of the memorial events during the 30th Anniversary of
the Osaka University.
RCNP was established as a joint-in use research institute for the
operation and research with the large Ring Cyclotron. The present Ring Cyclotron
is the fourth cyclotron we have built and operated at the
Osaka
University.
The activities of the Center have been
growing since the beginning of the research of atomic nuclei, and its history is
recognized as part of the history of Nuclear Physics.
In the
Exhibition Room, we show the history of Nuclear Physics research, the people who
contributed and the achievements of researchers, among them Dr. Hideki Yukawa
awarded the Novel Prize in 1949. We show the models of the Ring Cyclotron and
AVF Cyclotron to demonstrate the principles of these accelerators.
Panels on the walls explain the type of
research we are doing at the Center.
We are
planning to add displays of various instruments like the big Spark Chamber,
which we installed recently. In this Spark Chamber, you will be able to see for
yourself the sparks created by the passing cosmic rays.
Opening hours are
from 9:00
am to 5:00 pm on
working days.
Please
call 06-6879-8901(General Affairs Manager) or 06-6879-8903(General Affairs
Division) in advance if you would like to come for a visit.
