SPIN2000 - Final Circular The 14th International Spin Physics Symposium, SPIN2000, will be held during Oct. 16-21, 2000 at Osaka University, Osaka Japan. The Symposium will be supported by the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP), and it will be hosted by the Research Center for Nuclear Physics (RCNP), Osaka University. This symposium is the first unified international symposium of nuclear spin physics and high energy spin physics. The International Symposium on High Energy Spin Physics has been held every two years. The last one was held at Protvino, Russia, Sept. 1998. The International Symposium on Polarization Phenomena in Nuclear Physics has been held every 5 years. The last one (The 8th conference) was held at Bloomington, USA, in 1994. This Symposium is based on discussions at the last International High Energy Spin Physics Committee Meetings, Sept. 1996 at Amsterdam and Sept. 1998 at Protvino. Starting with SPIN2000, the Spin Physics Symposia will unify the High Energy Spin Symposia and the Nuclear Polarization Conferences. Thus it includes the interesting subjects of spin physics in medium-low energy reactions and polarization phenomena in nuclear physics and in high energy spin physics. Particle spins play crucial roles for current astro-, particle, and nuclear physics. The present symposium puts emphasis on recent developments of spin physics: 1. Symmetries and conservation laws at high, medium, and low energies within and beyond the standard theory. 2. Strong interactions, QCD, and hadron structures. 3. Reaction dynamics and structures of hadron-nucleon many body systems and nuclei. 4. Technical developments in spin physics. SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM: The symposium has plenary, parallel and poster sessions. The plenary sessions are composed of invited talks. The parallel sessions consist of oral presentations selected from contributed papers. The scientific program of the Symposium is posted on a WEB page at http://www.rcnp.osaka-u.ac.jp/~spin2000/program. It will be updated regularly. It can be sent by e-mail on request. If you have any problem to access the WEB page, please contact the Scientific Secretary of SPIN2000. SESSIONS: Sessions are as follows: 1. Symmetries and spin I (P, T, CP, atoms, neutrons, beta decay, neutrinos) 2. Symmetries and spin II (high energy probes, meson and lepton decays) 3. Spin structure of nucleons 4. Spin physics and hadrons (high energy hadron reactions, hadron spectroscopy, hyperons, hyper-nuclei) 5. Spin physics with photons and electrons 6. Spin physics in nuclei (few body systems, nuclear reactions, nuclear structure, polarized unstable nuclei) 7. Polarized beams and polarimeters 8. Polarized ion sources and polarized targets POSTERS: Posters will be displayed in a Hall on the third floor of the ICHOU KAIKAN located on the same campus as the Symposium site. The poster sessions are scheduled in the evenings of October 17th(Tue.) and 20th(Fri). Posters can be set up in the morning of the presentation day and should be removed immediately after the session. The size of a poster panel is 90 cm (W) x 180 cm (H). Adhesive tape will be provided for attaching the posters. Please attach your poster in the panel corresponding to the poster number provided by the organizer. PROCEEDINGS: The book containing the Abstracts of the Contributed Papers will be distributed to all participants. The Proceedings of the Symposium will be published in AIP Proceedings. Proceedings will include invited papers (talks) presented in plenary sessions and oral contributions presented in parallel sessions. The format and instructions for the preparation of manuscripts are posted on a WEB page at http://www.rcnp.osaka-u.ac.jp/~spin2000/proceedings. All contributions should be submitted in electric files or camera-ready hardcopies. The articles of plenary talks should not exceed 10 pages, including tables, figures and list of references. The maximum article size of contributed talks in the parallel sessions is 5 pages. The deadline for submission of the articles is November 30, 2000. One copy of the Proceedings will be sent to each registrant. REGISTRATION: The registration fee is 30,000 JP.Yen for regular participants, and 20,000 JP.Yen for students. The fee includes a copy of the Proceedings and the Symposium Banquet. Payment of the registration fee must be made by credit card (VISA or Master Card), or in cash in Japanese Yen at the Conference. We are not able to accept foreign currency. The registration desk is open at Senri Hankyu Hotel from 6 PM to 8 PM on October 15, and at Convention Center during the Symposium Period. LANGUAGE: The official language of the symposium is English. SYMPOSIUM SITE: Convention Center, Osaka University (Suita Campus) It is within a walking distance from RCNP, the ICHOU KAIKAN(Poster session), and "Handai-Byoin-Mae" monorail station. TRANSPORTATION: Detailed information of the access to the Symposium site is found on a WEB page at http://www.rcnp.osaka-u.ac.jp/~spin2000/access. If you need further information, please contact the scientific secretary by email. WEATHER: October in Osaka is pleasant and sunny, with temperature ranging from 17 to 25 degrees centigrade, but do not neglect the possibility of occasional rain showers. A light jacket will be useful in the evening. SOCIAL PROGRAMS: Welcome Party: On Sunday, October 15, a party is held at Senri Hankyu Hotel for all participant from 6 PM to 8 PM. Registration desk is open during the party. (http://www.senri-htl.com/english/welcome.html) Excursion: On Thursday, October 19, we have a Symposium excursion in the afternoon. The destination is the National Museum of Ethnology adjacent to the EXPO Memorial Park near the Symposium site.
