OCJ Program

OCJ = Oral Communications in Japanese for International Researchers at Osaka University

*program to learn oral Japanese skills for Japanese beginners (true beginner ~ beginning learner).


Person : Researchers, their families, students, and others
Place : Lecture Room in RCNP, Suita campus
Period : 19/Feb/2024 - 28/Mar/2024, every Monday and Thursday
(twice a week for a total of 12 meetings)
Fee : Free

1. Class A (OCJ 1 for true beginner)
Time : 13:30 | 15:00
Capacity : 15 people
*The class does not require participants to learn Japanese scripts, i.e. hiragana and katakana.
The purpose of Class A is;
1. to familiarize you with Japanese pronunciations using names of countries, major cities, famous scientists, and loan words(katakana-go)
2. to be able to introduce yourself and talk something about your family
3. to be able to talk about your favorite things (foods, drinks,sports, music, etc.)
4. to be able to describe everyday things and events using simple Japanese
5. to be able to describe what you did in Friday evening, the weekend, etc.
6. to be able to have simple things done in everyday situations

2. Class B (OCJ 2 for beginning learner)
Time : 15:30 | 17:00 Capacity : 15 people
*The participants are expected to have learned hiragana and katakana.
The purpose of Class B is;
1. to learn how to invite people, offer things, offer to do things, ask for help, explain dos and donfts, give suggestions
2. to familiarize you with Japanese structures to express desire, rules and regulations, obligations and things to notice.
3. to describe your family in some detail and say whether you have a particular experience or not

*You can also send an application by email as under, stating your name, email address, Affiliation, position and any comments.
*The number of participants will be limited to 30 people. We will stop accepting applications once the limit is reached.
