I belong to a nuclear experimental physics laboratory. I am particularly interested in the alpha-condensed state, a unique state of the atomic nucleus, and am conducting a search for this state in 20Ne nuclei, where its existence has not yet been confirmed.
The alpha-condensed state is a state in which nucleons that are normally distributed uniformly within the nucleus precipitate as alpha particles (4He nuclei) in a low-density environment and condense into the lowest-energy state. The "Hoyle state", a prime example of this phenomenon, is the second excited state of ¹²C, composed of three alpha particles, and is known to contribute significantly to the nucleosynthesis of carbon in the universe following the Big Bang. However, the existence of alpha-condensate states in nuclei heavier than ¹²C, such as ²⁰Ne, remains unconfirmed; therefore, I aim to search for new alpha-condensate states and elucidate their structures.
