I study Integrated Circuits (IC) and Integrated Systems in graduate school. IC is the foundation supporting the development of the information society and always exists between information and physical space. Especially, sensors, which collect data from physical space are indispensable for information systems to continuously process data in response to our life environment. Now that people and things are connected more closely over the Internet, they are becoming more important.

My current project is to design a multimodal gas sensor that detects a wide variety of gas components. Since odor is generally composed of a large number of gases, their recognition requires a multimodal capability to capture various types of gases on a single chip. The size is aimed to be so small that it can be integrated into a smartphone. This non-invasive sensing can be used to measure user stress and control food quality in real time. Ultimately, the goal is to establish a sensor network system that wirelessly exchanges power as well as data to save the area overhead for the battery.
