I am a 3rd year PhD student. My major in the Master’s course is Nuclear Physics. In the doctoral course, I focus more on its applications in Medical Imaging.
My research is about optimizing a new design of PET (positron emission tomography) detector modules.

  • PET is a medical imaging technique using radioactive substances to get images of metabolic processes in the body. This technique is mainly used for detecting tumors in a patient body.
  • The new design I am studying has a novel geometry setup for the PET detector modules. This design aims to address the limitations of previous designs: increase detection sensitivity, reduce the cost, reduce the effort in locating the radiation interaction position with the detector.
  • Optimizing this new design will explore its full potential to improve the performance of PET systems. Such performance will reduce radiation doses to patients and improve image quality, allowing early detection of more diseases.
