DBD14 announcement (Japanese version at the bottom)

Dear Colleague,

This is the first circular of the International Workshop on "Double Beta Decay and Underground Science" (DBD14), which will be held from October 5 to 7, 2014 at Hilton Waikoloa Village in Hawaii. The workshop provides a platform for open discussions on current and future directions in the study of double beta decay and other related topics in neutrino physics.

Subjects

Call for Contributions

Abstracts of contributed papers for the 6 October session will be accepted through the workshop registration page. Please visit the following URL;

The deadline for abstract submission to the 6 October workshop is July 31st, 2014.
We will have a poster session also. Please indicate your preference for oral or poster presentation in your registration.

Registration

Those who will attend the full US/Japan DNP meeting (HAWAII 2014) have to pay 300 USD. Please register through HAWAII 2014 WEB page. Those who will attend just DBD14 have to pay 185 USD at our registration desk. This also includes the reception on 7 October. We request additional 100 USD for reception, refreshment and sunset cruise. We accept only cash. Please pay the fee at the registration desk during the workshop.

皆様

「二重ベータ崩壊と地下実験の科学」に関する国際ワークショップを開催致します。

ニュートリノ振動現象の確認以後、 二重ベータ崩壊の研究は現代物理学における最も重要な問題のひとつになっています。 これは、ニュートリノがマヨラナ粒子であることを証明するための、現在知られている唯一の方法です。 その証明は、同時にレプトン数保存則の破れを意味し、 物質優勢の宇宙を誕生させる鍵となっています。 また、現在の宇宙の質量はダークマターで占められています。 これらの宇宙の始まりと現在を解く鍵が、地下の極低バックグランド環境での素粒子原子核実験です。 現在、世界中で多くの研究が進行中ないし、計画中です。 この時期に世界中の研究者が集い、 二重ベータ崩壊研究と地下実験の科学について現状と将来の方向性について議論を 深めることは時宜を得たものと思われます。

ワークショップは10月5日(日)夕方から始まります。 初日は、ニュートリノ質量の起源についてのトピックや、 現在稼動中の実験と提案されている将来の実験についての講演が予定されています。 2日目は主にダークマター探索、3日目に主だった二重ベータ崩壊の実験を網羅します。 特に米国NSFとDOEで検討中の2重ベータ崩壊の研究の今後の動向をレビューの話があります。 また、関連する実験技術についての講演のほか、 コントリビューションからの講演を予定しています。
