The International Physics Course (IPC) is a degree program conducted in English inside the Department of Physics of the Graduate School of Science of Osaka University. It offers Master and Ph.D. degrees, completed usually in 2 and 3 years respectively. In the IPC, we provide graduate students with an education and research environment where English is the standard language. Students in the IPC can work from the beginning as active members of international collaborations in theory or experiment. Osaka University is rather unique among universities because we have our own large-scale facilities on campus, including a high-power laser and a high-energy accelerator. Students interested in condensed matter physics and other fields of physics are also encouraged to join the IPC program.
We have 34 groups led by full professors covering research in particle and nuclear physics, astrophysics, plasma physics, condensed matter, statistical and inter-disciplinary physics. Details of the groups and faculties are shown at the URL below. Feel free to contact these faculties directly to ask any kind of questions. The IPC was created as a part of the graduate program in the Physics Department. Students will be physics students, and will receive a Master of Science or Ph.D. degree from the Department of Physics, Graduate School of Science.
The IPC is one of the educational programs taught in English at Osaka University (for programs taught in English in other disciplines, see the CAREN webpage). It started as one of the projects for the Establishment of Core Universities for Internationalization (Global 30) launched by our ministry MEXT and it continues now independently as an initiative of Osaka University.
