RCNP Cyclotron Facilities

The RCNP Cyclotron Facility is open to researchers from all over Japan and the world to promote nuclear science and applied research using accelerators as a Joint Usage/Collaborative Research Center.

The K140 AVF cyclotron and K400 ring cyclotron can accelerate spin-polarized proton beams up to 400 MeV. Acceleration of heavy ion beams is also possible, and heavy ion beams in the light region can be obtained with energies up to 100 AMeV.。

Research projects in various fields such as nuclear physics, fundamental physics, nuclear engineering, nuclear chemistry, and nuclear medicine are conducted based on research proposals from researchers affiliated with universities and research institutes in Japan and abroad. We also focus on the education of undergraduate and graduate students, and conduct experiments for the education and research of undergraduate and graduate students from all over Japan.
